*** Garmin Adds Chapura PocketMirror Software to iQue 3600
(January 19)
Chapura Inc. and Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin
Ltd., said Garmin will bundle PocketMirror Standard software from
Chapura with its iQue3600 to offer users a solution for
synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook.
The iQue 3600 is a Palm-based PDA with integrated Global
Positioning System technology, featuring Garmin's user interface
for navigation as well as the Palm applications. The built-in Que
software applications allow users to see their location on an
electronic map, select a destination from a robust points-of-
interest database, and receive turn-by-turn directions and voice
guidance along the route. The user can navigate to the location
of a meeting from their Date Book or Address Book. The iQue 3600
also has a built-in MP3 player and voice recorder.
By synchronizing multiple handhelds to the same Outlook profile,
any group may access the same data. PocketMirror Standard
supports synchronizing to the same Exchange Server folders from
any PC connected to the server. It supports Microsoft Outlook 97
or higher.
Garmin iQue units bundling PocketMirror Standard from Chapura
will begin shipping in January 2004 for a suggested retail price
of $589. The software is available in six languages other than
English: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and
Brazilian Portuguese. PocketMirror Standard is available to
owners of Palm Powered devices that do not include the software
for $39.95 on the Chapura Web site.
