***Mobility Network Systems Announces Wi-Fi and GRPS/EDGE
Unifying Client Software
(March 17)

Mobility Network Systems today announced software that provides
end users with connectivity to Wi-Fi and GPRS networks from Wi-
Fi-enabled notebook PCs. The client software is downloaded and
installed on the user's PC, where it automatically sniffs out
available Wi-Fi network "hotspots" or, in the absence of a
hotspot, connects to widely available GPRS or EDGE networks
operating.

According to Mobility Network Systems, operators can provide
wireless-enabled PC users access with a click of a mouse, whether
they are connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot or GPRS/EDGE network.
Subscribers will be able to experience wireless connectivity and
mobility. The software was demonstrated at GSM Cannes and CTIA,
following an agreement between Mobility Network Systems and
Nortel Networks to jointly market public wireless LAN solutions
to mobile operators.

To install and use the software, first-time users launch a Web
browser from the laptop to access a "welcome portal" that
introduces them to the Wi-Fi service. The wizard-based self-
install feature downloads and installs the client software on the
laptop. Once the client software is installed, the client scans
for all available access points and allows the user to choose the
one with the best signal strength and link quality. Users have
"one-click" access to the Wi-Fi network when in a Wi-Fi hotspot
or the GPRS/EDGE network when outside a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The client supports username/password and SIM-based
authentication options. SIM data can be read from PC cards (such
as GPRS/EDGE or combo cards), smart cards or USB dongles. The
software runs on portable PCs running Windows 98, ME, 2000, and
XP. It supports all IEEE 802.11 standard Wi-Fi cards. The client
enables access to Wi-Fi networks deployed by operators and by
Wireless ISPs (WISP).

The client software is available now. It is part of Mobility
Network Systems' end-to-end solution, which provides carrier-
class Wi-Fi public access, and addresses security,
authentication, roaming, handover and network management issues.
The solution integrates public Wi-Fi into GSM, GPRS/EDGE and UMTS
core networks.
