***Linksys Announces Wireless Signal Booster for 802.11b Networks
(January 20)

Linksys, a manufacturer of broadband, wireless, and networking
hardware, today announced immediate availability of the new
Linksys Wireless Signal Booster (WSB24). The WSB24 connects to a
Linksys Wireless-B Access Point (WAP11) or Wireless-B Router
(BEFW11S4) to 'boost' the Wireless-B signal for faster data
transmissions at farther-away distances, increasing the effective
range and coverage of a home, hotspot or business network. The
Booster strengthens the signal like an amplifier -- even close-
range wireless communication can be sped up because of reduced
reception error retransmissions.

The Linksys Wireless Signal Booster was developed to extend the
radio signal into hard to reach areas while filtering out noise
and interference. The Linksys Wireless Signal Booster is intended
to help save on wiring costs and build corporate wireless
infrastructure by driving signals into distant, reflective
corners and hard-to-reach areas. For businesses, Linksys stated
the Signal Booster is ideal for covering large areas in warehouse
environments, public spaces, wireless hotspots, and outdoor
venues. The FCC has certified the Booster when used in tandem
with a Linksys 802.11b Access Point or Wireless Router.

Installation involves four steps:
(1) Stack the Wireless Signal Booster on top of a Linksys access
point or wireless router. Unscrew the antennas from the access
point or wireless router and
(2) Connect them to the Booster. Then connect the Booster's
special cables to the where the antennas on the access point or
wireless routers used to be.
(3) Plug the Booster into a power outlet.
(4) Go Wireless -- no drivers or modifications are necessary.

The Linksys Wireless Signal Booster (WSB24) is priced at an
estimated street price of $99. It is immediately available
through retailers, e-commerce stores, distributors, value added
resellers and direct response marketers.
