***Invensys Controls and emWare to Develop and Market Home
Network ControlServer
(January 17)

Invensys Network Systems, an automation and controls manufacturer
whose customers include such brands as Whirlpool, Maytag, GE and
Carrier announced that an agreement has been reached between
Invensys and emWare to jointly develop and market a
ControlServer. This product will allow homeowners and business
managers to control appliances, home entertainment equipment, and
systems such as lighting, HVAC and security, from user interfaces
throughout a home or business and from distant locations via the
Internet.

The combined technologies of Invensys and emWare will enable
users to interact with these devices via traditional "button and
knob" interfaces, as well as Web browsers, cell phones, PDAs,
ordinary TVs, databases and spreadsheets for data-logging and
information management. The products can be remotely monitored,
diagnosed, and managed under service contracts and the software
can be remotely upgrades.

emWare's technology makes it easier and more cost-effective to
control and manage the information on electronic devices or
appliances that employ a microcircuit from Invensys known as the
SmartModule. emWare's EMIT device-networking software will be
embedded in the SmartModule, providing a complete networking
platform for electronic devices built with 8-bit and greater
microcontrollers.

Invensys will unveil a smart home concept at the National Retail
Federation Show at the Jacob Javits Center in New York on Jan.
17-19. The exhibit will contain a mock up of a kitchen and family
room equipped with Invensys smart home products that have been in
development.
