***Sears, Sun Microsystems Working On Internet-Connected Home

Sears, Roebuck and Co. announced that it is working with Sun
Microsystems, Inc. and other key companies regarding the
development of the Internet-connected home. Sears vision is to
market, install and service innovative appliances and other
products that use Sun's Java and Jini technologies.
The aim of the Internet-connected home is to allow home systems
and components to work together through the Internet to make the
home function more effectively, safely and efficiently. Sun's
additional partners include Bosch Siemens, Cisco, Echelon, GTE,
Motorola, Nokia, Oracle, Sony and Whirlpool, as well as others.
Sears is the nation's largest seller and servicer of appliances.
In July 1999, Sears introduced its premium line of Kenmore Elite
appliances for the customer who demands the latest features and
the most sophisticated styling, in addition to value and
dependability. Kenmore is the number-one selling appliance brand
in America.
