***Taiwan's DVD Makers to Export More than 1 Million Units

As industry watchers expect the global DVD player market to rise
to 16 million units in the year 2000, Taiwanese IT and household
appliance makers have increased their production quantities and
expect to export more than 1 million units in 2000. Esonic
Technology, eyeing the portable DVD player market, released a DVD
player without a screen. The company has received orders for
120,000 units. Additionally, the company will launch a portable
DVD player for use in cars next year. Esonic predicts that the
company will be able to take over 10 percent of the global
portable DVD market next year.
