***TriQuint Semiconductor Introduces Two TDMA Receiver Integrated
Circuits for Cellular/PCS Phone Applications
(December 6)
TriQuint Semiconductor announced the introduction of its latest
in a series of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) TDMA-mode monolithic
receiver ICs. The TQ5122, Cellular frequency band receiver, and
the TQ5622, PCS frequency band receiver, are complementary
devices designed for use in IS-136, TDMA, or equivalent wireless
handsets.
The TQ5122 and TQ5622 are low current devices that include a
power down or ``sleep'' mode to extend both standby and talk
times in wireless applications. Both devices include an LNA,
mixer, LO Buffer, and IF buffer amplifier and operate from a
single 2.8 Volt power supply. The TQ5122 and TQ5622 are designed
to minimize the number of external bypass and matching elements
to keep board space and cost to a minimum.
The TQ5122 and TQ5622 each draw typically 12mA in the on state
and less than 100(mu)A in the off state. Conversion gain is
18.5dB and 17.5dB respectively. Both have an Input Intercept
point, IIP3, of greater than -9dBm and Noise Figures better than
2.8dB. They meet all electrical requirements for IS-136 phones.
The TQ5122 and TQ5622 are specifically designed for use in IS-136
TDMA phones, in both the US Cellular and PCS frequency bands.
Both ICs are packaged in a small JEDEC QSOP-16 plastic package
and are shipped in tape and reel format. Unit price for either
the TQ5122 or the TQ5622 is $2.43 in quantities of 1000.
Evaluation boards and production quantities are available now.
Technical support is available along with data sheets and
evaluation boards. The TQ5122 and TQ5622 data sheets are
