***MGI Software and PictureVision Collaborate To Turn PCs into
Virtual Photo Finishing Labs
(January 5)
MGI Software Corp. announced it is partnering with PictureVision
in the development and marketing of an online printing solution
that makes it easy for consumers to obtain high-quality, real
photographic prints from digitally generated images. Print
Station from Kodak PhotoNet online, is a downloadable software
application that connects digital photographers to photo-
finishing labs via the Internet. Users can upload their digital
images to the Kodak PhotoNet online Web site, then select from a
range of photo fulfillment services, such as prints in a variety
of sizes or an assortment of distinctive photo gifts.
MGI Software and PictureVision are currently in discussions with
photo-finishing labs, as well as with a number of Photo portals
and other strategic partners.
PictureVision and MGI Software also recently teamed up on the
development of the PhotoNet CD, a CD-ROM containing high-
resolution scans of customers' photographs and intuitive,
Internet-enabled, photo editing, organizing, presenting, and
sharing software driven by MGI PhotoSuite technology. The
PhotoNet CD is currently being utilized by some of the largest
retail and mail order photofinishers in the U.S., such as
Signature Color, Wolf Camera, Mystic Color Lab, and Konica
Quality Photos, to introduce their customers to digital imaging.
