***Packard Bell Multimedia PCS to be Powered by 3DFX Voodoo3

Packard Bell announced it will ship in May, selected models of
its MultiMedia PC line with Voodoo3, the high-performance 3D and
2D graphics accelerator from 3dfx. Targeted at family users
throughout Europe, the Packard Bell MultiMedia PC features more
than 30 software titles and Internet tools for Web surfing.

Packard Bell will begin integrating 3dfx Interactive’s advanced
Voodoo3 2000 acceleration technology onto the motherboard of
selected models in the MultiMedia line. The Voodoo3 graphics
accelerator is capable of generating up to 6 million triangles
and 286 Megatexels per second at resolutions of up to 2,046 by
1,536 pixels.

A typical configuration, such as the Multimedia 450 V3, will
include a Pentium PIII 450 processor, 64Mb RAM, an 8.4Gb hard
disk, sound card, speakers, 15-inch monitor and V90 modem as well
as the Voodoo3 graphics accelerator. With support for ultra-high
resolution monitors, Voodoo3 2000 features a 300MHz RAMDAC and
8MB of SDRAM (143MHz).

The accelerator also includes such features as:
- single-pass single-cycle multi-texturing for bump mapping and
trilinear mip-mapping
- dual 32-bit internal rendering,
- per-pixel mip-mapping
- sub-pixel and sub-texel correction
- 8-bit palletized textures,
- programmable exponential fog tables
- Gouraud shading
- a full 128-bit 2D accelerator
- DVD hardware assist
- support for DirectX, Glide and OpenGL.
