***Matrox Announces G400 MAX

Matrox Graphics announced Matrox G400 MAX, a higher speed version
of the Matrox G400 graphics chip which can achieve peak 3D fill
rates in excess of 333 Mtexels/second. The chip is claimed to 3D
WinBench 99 test with a score of 1080 at 1024 x 768 resolution.
Tests were conducted on a 500Mhz Pentium III system with 128MB of
100Mhz SDRAM. Performance figures compiled using Ziff Davis 3D
WinBench 99 run at 1024 x 768 x 16-bpp triple-buffered with 16-
bit Z at 85Hz refresh under DirectX 6.1. The Matrox G400 MAX and
Matrox G400 were configured with 32MB of SGRAM for the AGP bus,
using driver revision 5.10. It also has a 360Mhz. RAMDAC capable
of driving high-end monitors at resolutions up to 2048 x 1536,
32-bpp at 85Hz.
The Matrox G400 MAX integrates the features supported by the
Matrox G400 and that includes DualHead Display, DirectX 6
Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, Vibrant Color Quality2 (VCQ2),
full AGP texturing, anisotropic filtering, 32-bit rendering,
support for 32MB of memory and a 32-bit Z-buffer.
Products based on the Matrox G400 MAX will be available to end-
users in Q2’99.
