***Price on PC Plunges to $299 and Includes 1-Year Free Internet
Access
(March 17)

Seattle computer maker Microworkz plans to charge $299 for a
personal computer when it goes on sale April 19. The price will
also include one year of free Internet access through EarthLink.

Microworkz's price undercuts the $399 price tag of Korean-based
eMachines, up to now the low-price leader in personal computers.

At $299 for a Webzter Jr. model, the user will get a computer
powered by a Cyrix 300 MHz microprocessor, 32 MB of RAM, a 3.2 GB
hard disk and a 56 KBS modem. Software includes Windows 98, Corel
WordPerfect Suite 8 and Internet connectivity software. The
monitor is extra.

If the buyer factors in $240 for the cost for a year of Internet
service, the effective price of the PC is only about $60.

The PCs will be made in the company's own factory near Bothell,
just north of Seattle, at the rate of about 3,000 a day.

The machines will be marketed as an Internet appliance, though
they are full-featured machines.

The company sells PCs directly through phone orders and over the
Internet.
