IXMICRO announced the ix3D's product family for
graphics professionals, design experts and home
enthusiasts.
(February 13)

The ix3D family includes Ultimate Rez (ESP $699
U.S.), which is aimed at the serious graphics, with
8Mbyte EDO VRAM board. Pro Rez (ESP $359 U.S.) for
graphic designers looking for true color performance
while operating at moderate resolutions such as
1152x870 and has 8Mbyte SGRAM memory. Mac Rocket (ESP
$279 U.S.) which uses the same TwinTurbo 128-3D
controller that powers both Pro Rez and Ultimate Rez.

Diamond Multimedia Releases Updated Stealth 3D 2000
(February 9)

Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. announced a new
version of Diamond's Stealth 3D 2000 Pro media
accelerator with 2MB of EDO DRAM memory (upgradeable
to 4MB) with a $69.95 estimated retail price (ERP).
S3 ViRGE/DX 64-bit media controller enables the low
price.

TeleVideo Introduces TeleGRAPHICS 3DX based on S3's
ViRGE DX
(February 9)

TeleVideo announced the TeleGRAPHICS 3DX, which
includes a 170 MHz RAMDAC and clock synthesizer,
horizontal and vertical interpolation, and a built-in
video processor. The board 3D texture mapping, bi-
linear and tri-linear texture filtering, mip mapping,
video texture mapping, Z-buffering, depth cueing,
fogging and alpha bending at resolutions of up to
1600x1200 with 256 colors. In addition there is
support for Indeo, Cinepak, and software and hardware
accelerated MPEG-1 digital video playback, including
scalable hardware-assisted full-screen MPEG-1 video
at up to 30 frames per second.

The TeleGRAPHICS 3DX will ship in February in both
2MB (MSRP $69) and 4MB (MSRP $85) EDO DRAM versions.
System requirements include a Pentium processor or
compatible, PCI local bus and SVGA monitor. It is
available with drivers for Windows 95, Windows 3.1x,
Windows NT and OS/2.

Diamond Multimedia Announces DTV 2000 TV Tuner/Video
Capture Solution for Viper, Stealth II and Stealth 3D
Accelerators

Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. announced the
availability of the Diamond DTV 2000 TV tuner for the
North American market (a PAL/SECAM version is
currently shipping in Europe). The DTV 2000 works in
conjunction with Diamond's newest multimedia
accelerators, including the Viper, model V330 and the
Stealth II, model S220 as well as the Stealth 3D
multimedia accelerators. With the Diamond DTV 2000,
PC consumers can watch scaleable, full-screen TV and
capture video on their computer. With (ERP) of
$129.95 (U.S.), the Diamond DTV 2000 will be
available through Diamond Multimedia's Customer
Service department at 1-800-468-5846 and through
Diamond Multimedia's On-Line Store.

Diamond's DTV 2000 is a 125 channel cable or
broadcast-ready TV tuner. Equipped with X and Y
interpolation and filtering, the DTV 2000 provides
full-screen TV and video at resolutions up to 1280 x
1024. The DTV 2000 features a dedicated sound
processor that provides stereo quality sound to both
input and output sources. Additionally, it displays
video on the PC from broadcast NTSC TV, cable TV,
video cameras, laserdisc players and VCRs. Motion
video and still images from all of these sources can
be captured as .AVI or .BMP files.

Diamond Multimedia Announces Stealth 3D 4000 AGP
Accelerator
(February 3)

Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. announced its
Stealth 3D 4000 media accelerator designed to meet
the graphics needs of systems integrators and value-
added resellers (VARs). Diamond's Stealth 3D 4000
features state-of-the-art Accelerated Graphics Port
(AGP) technology, which allows the graphics
controller to have more bandwidth through a dedicated
pipeline to system memory for processing high-
performance video and graphics, especially 3D. The
new Stealth 3D 4000 is shipping to key system
integrators and distributors, including ASI,
Comtrade, Exxact, Greenleaf, Mini-Micro Supply,
Proteva Computers, SED International, Supercom and
Synnex/MiTAC.

Featuring either 2MB or 4MB of high-speed SGRAM
memory it uses S3’s ViRGE/GX-2 64-bit media
controller.

Diamond Announces Monster 3D II based on 3Dfx Voodoo2
(February 2)

Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. announced the
Diamond Monster 3D II which uses 3Dfx Interactive's
Voodoo2 graphics engine. The card will begin shipping
in the U.S. in March for an estimated retail price of
$249.95. Diamond Multimedia will also offer a version
of the Monster 3D II to distributors and system
integrators. APIs supported include Microsoft's
Direct3D, 3Dfx's Glide and OpenGL. Monster 3D II's
pass-through design is compatible with virtually all
VGA and 2D Windows accelerators, making installation
a snap. Monster 3D II supports Z-buffering in
resolutions up to 800 x 600 with 16-bit color.

Diamond Multimedia also provides a MEGAMonster option
that allows customers to potentially double their 3D
game speed with two Monster 3D II accelerators
simultaneously. The MEGAMonster configuration
delivers 3D rendering with performance as high as 300
million pixels per second and support for resolutions
up to 1024 x 768 with 16-bit color.

ATI Announces XCLAIM for the Mac
(January)

ATI announcing 3D Xclaim, a 2D, 3D & video
accelerator card for Mac OS systems, built around the
RAGE PRO chip. Xclaim 3D gives Mac designers &
content developers hot 2D graphics in resolutions up
to 1152x870. Its advanced 3D hardware will let users
take advantage of the latest 3D design packages &
experience performance up to 3x that of a Macintosh
9600/233 without 3D acceleration.

Integraph Improves Card Performance and Lowers Price
(February 10)

Intergraph Computer Systems' Intense 3D Pro 2200
graphics accelerator now delivers better 2D
performance and at a lower price. Sporting a new
model number, the Intense 3D Pro 2200S now achieves,
with a Business Graphics WinMark, `97 score of 100
for 2D performance. This is a 29.49% increase over
the previous score of 77.3. In addition to increased
2D performance, the Intense 3D Pro 2200S with its
OpenGL(R) 3D performance delivers 1.2 million Gouraud
shaded (25-pixel) triangles per second at full 3D
graphics workstation specifications. Intergraph also
cuts the price of the Intense 3D Pro 2200S from
$2,399 to $1,995 (U.S. List). The Intense 3D Pro
2200S accelerates virtually any professional 3D
application that uses either OpenGL or Heidi APIs and
is ideal for users of AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max,
LightWave 3D, and AVS/Express.
