1997 International Television Symposium

The 20th anniversary of the ITVS (which is held every two years) is
expected to be an important show, with growing support from major
players including Sony, Panasonic, Philips BTS, Thomson, Avid, and
Quantel, as well as many smaller companies. The Symposium will feature
sessions on satellite broadcasting, cable, terrestrial broadcasting,
future technologies and a large number of exhibitors from all aspects
of broadcasting (more than 300 exhibitors were present at the last
Symposium).

Meltdown 1997
At WinHEC Microsoft announced that Meltdown 97 will run from July 9 -
11. This promises to be an important event for all developers using
DirectX including Direct3D. DirectX 5.0 is to have shipped by then and
the details of DirectX 6.0 should be surfaced.
